Say Goodbye to HD DVD

As early as today, Wal-mart will be phasing out the HD DVD format from their stores. By June, they will be selling Blu-ray exclusively.

Toshiba: “Major ouch!”

Wal-mart’s Senior VP for Home Entertainment: “We've listened to our customers, who are showing a clear preference toward Blu-ray products and movies with their purchases.''

Companies already in the Blu-ray camp: NetFlix, BestBuy, Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney Co. and Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.

Companies “with” Toshiba’s HD DVD: Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. and Microsoft for the 360 (who also commented that they can and will start supporting Blu-ray if their customers want them to)

It looks like the HD DVD is on its way to the loser's shelf currently occupied by: Betamax (losing to VHS), Laser Disc (Loser to DVD).
Both of which I own.
